Sustainability Sundays Featuring: Waiʻanae Mountains Watershed Partnership

July 2, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Wai Kai is proud to present our monthly Sustainability Sundays as part of our commitment to make responsible decisions to protect and reduce our impact on the environment and desire to support community members who are leading the way.

Every first Sunday of the month, we will feature a locally based non-profit organization committed to sustainable solutions to host a talk story and/or activity on-site.

Additionally, a percentage of overall profits from the full day’s activities at Wai Kai, generated through The LineUp and Kitchen Door, will go back to this organization to support their mission. That means, a portion of the dollars spent on these days, whether on food & beverage or activities, a will go back to the featured organization!

As a newly established business, we recognize our responsibility to create opportunities for education and awareness while giving back to those which focus their careers around it.

Featuring: Waiʻanae Mountains Watershed Partnership

In 2010, the Wai‘anae Mountains Watershed Partnership (WMWP) was formed to implement watershed and natural resource management along the Wai‘anae Mountains to sustain the future quality and quantity of O‘ahu’s water supply.

WMWP and its partners are committed to cooperatively develop and implement management strategies for the Wai‘anae Mountains, mauka to makai – with the long term goal of restoring, preserving and protecting watershed areas of the Wai‘anae Mountain range. The partnership brings people together to responsibly manage watershed areas, native species and their habitats, and historical, cultural and socio-economic resources for all who benefit from the continued health of all of our surrounding ahupua‘a.

WMWP is a project under the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit of the College of Natural Sciences at the University Hawaii at Manoa.

From 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. WMWP will be hosting a talk story about their conservation work in the Wai‘anae Mountains and wildfire discussions with Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization Conservation with trivia questions.  They will have Native Hawaiian Plant sticker coloring and giveaway, along with make-and-take postcards of ʻOhiʻa Lehua and Kāhuli tree snail stamping on ʻōlelo noʻeau postcards.

Together, we can build a more sustainable Hawai‘i!
